| Comments: |
A little of everything on this trek. Snow starts showing up at about 2800' and is pretty steady at 3"-6" above 3200'. Microspikes were perfect for most of the trail above 3500' and made the icy rocks/ledges much more manageable. Some would be dangerous without any help. VERY wet and muddy down low; at one point an overrun water bar makes the trail into a stream on Greeley Pond Trail. Up between the peaks the trail is covered with a nice stiff layer of snow with myriad post holes, but they are only about 2"-3" deep so it doesn't really matter. Not enough cover for snowshoes anyways. Nice meeting Jim out there and good luck on your pursuit of the 48x4 seasons! |
