late start had me opt for plan B. 9:00 start time.. A-Z well packed out with some soft spots Avalon to the viewpoint slicked right out with quite a few postholes. Above viewpoint looser snow with some postholes. Above 4000 feet around Field trails narrow dramatically with heavy snow load. Over to Willey soft packed out and pretty much right on track..many leaners. From Field to Mt Tom heaviest snow pack of the day with a tunnel beginning to form in places..some ducking. Mt Tom spur and A_Z broken out and very nice snowshoe track. In the clouds and snow showers today but views from Tom in particular will be great for awhile with deep snow pack..good choice ..got back to the parking lot in a heavy squall |
