Comments
Comments: Exploring some new trails today and some old logging camps that have been laid to rest many many years ago. It was hard to keep dry shoes today on these trails and after 22miles our we had a bit of "swamp foot" going on but that didn't stop us from having a great time. We visited the site of the old suspension bridge on the East Branch of the Pemi of which my dad, brother and I crossed many times as kids. It was defiantly an icon of its time and very much missed. Then on to the questionable Thoreau Falls Trail Bridge which is scheduled to be taken down. The bridge is not in that bad of shape. It looks like it could hold 10-20 people easy but all it has to hold as one at a time. They cut the decking off the first 15 feet of the bridge on both sides and a sign saying its closed. The river looks difficult to cross here. Im guessing you'll have to ford the river to cross so bring your waders. Then off to Stillwater Junction for lunch, which is my favorite area of the Pemi Wilderness if not the Whites. By now the sun came out and we sat in the sun ready for the return trek back to civilization. All in all some great places to explore.
