Late afternoon hike today. The first half mile is mostly dry with lots of leaves. The angular slabs were ice encased - this is where we encountered hikers that were making their way through the woods without traction around the ice, and one person with a bandaged up leg. Spikes came in handy. Once over the ski trails and under the canopy of the trees the trail was snow covered with much less ice.
Nice time in nature but I wouldn't recommend it as a sunset hike in shoulder season. Mild temps and enjoyable clear skies tonight. Thanks to my work buddy for keeping me company. |
