Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing of consequence.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: In spots, the pines reaching out into the trail on North Carter Trail made for wet arms, but not so overgrown that anything needs to be done. A couple of the bog bridges between North Carter and Imp were off kilter. The wetness made them extra slippery and treacherous.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Several enjoying the trails on Sunday. Water water everywhere and tons to drink!
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Please don't leave leftovers or bags of trash in the bear boxes at tentsites people. Someone else has to pack your gross stuff out.

Comments
Comments: First backpacking trip for the 8 year old. Up 19 mile brook and over the Carters to the Imp Shelter. Apparently the AMC saying that caretakers will be on site through Columbus Day Weekend didn't include Sunday; oh well free stay! Met several section/thru hikers who had flipped and were coming south from Maine. Freaking chilly waking up Monday morning too. The dampness and rain made things a bit dicey in spots, especially the ledgey areas on Carter Moriah north of North Carter. Asside from that, just a viewless weekend in the mountains.

If you wait for perfect weather to go hiking, you'll never go hiking.
