Trails
Trails: Signal Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, September 28, 2018
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Sawyer River Road is in very good condition, since it only recently reopened. It is a bit narrow for two way traffic, and one side has drop off spots and the other side has a side ditch. The parking lot has two entrances in from the road. The lot is likely to fill up over the next few weekends; additional cars may be able to park in the driveways to the lot and in some pullouts along the road.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: In spite of recent/current rain, the crossings were pretty easy after mostly dry weather.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail is in good shape, well brushed and with only a couple of blowdowns. There are some soggy spots down low, with step stones but there could be more hardening.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hello to shy terrier Violet, who ran the gauntlet past us rapidly because she is afraid of strangers. This is a good route for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: None.

Comments
Comments: I've only done this hike once before, about ten years ago. I wasn't really sure where the old and relocated parts of the trail are, but the trail is easy enough to follow with some attentiveness. It was raining lightly at the start of the hike but the raingear came off before the steepness increased. It was foggy on the ridge and at the summit, with some views of nearby things opening up here and there. It was still a great hike.
