Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing of Clear Brook at start of Old Osseo Trail can be rock hopped with care.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Despite it being officially abandoned the Old Osseo Trail still gets some attention. Up to Whaleback it is mostly clear of felled trees though footing in places is wet, muddy and/or eroded. Between Whaleback and Osseo Trail the trail is pretty brushy in spots and there are a number of fallen trees to contend with - though all can be crawled under, climbed over and in one case walked on. Yellow blazes of varying ages can be found throughout. No major issues on Osseo Trail or Lincoln Woods Trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw a couple on Flume enjoying the day.
Bugs
Bugs: Some were flying around at the Osseo Trail viewpoint near the top of the step ladders but not bothersome at all.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: An almost clockwise loop closing out with a car spot. After warming up a bit, Old Osseo Trail ascends pretty steeply up to Whaleback's summit but the ridge walk beyond to Osseo Trail is quite nice despite the downed trees noted above. Mostly soft footing throughout makes the walk even more enjoyable. Once on Osseo Trail the summit of Flume is reached in short order.

Weather was definitely better than expected - we made sure to check out all viewpoints along the route and spent a good amount of time on both peaks. Outside of one local at the start we didn't see anyone until on Osseo Trail - maybe 15-20 people scattered about on Flume's summit area. Thanks for BZ, AN and the rest of the group for a really fun day!
