We went to check out the new trail relocations on the western side of Sugarloaf. Nice short relo (marked with blue diamonds) on Blue Trail takes it around a usually wet, muddy area, while much of the White Trail has been completely relocated prior to the first creek crossing heading south -- the trail (marked with white diamonds) now stays on the eastern side of the creek, and never crosses it, before re-connecting to the Green Trail about 0.1 miles south of where it used to. The now-closed section of the White Trail was an old logging road, heavily eroded, that used to flood often; this relocation is a nice change.
This route makes for a nice loop over the Sugarloaves and then past Goose Pond, back to the parking area. |
