| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Hiker parking is along Ravine Road, before the lodge. The road is a little rough in places. Depending on how busy it is, where you park could involve a short road walk to the trailhead. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
No issues, but a couple of the log / handrail bridges on this loop are pretty rickety. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Lots of erosion on the relocated sections of GBT. Nice new rock steps on CR above treeline and new rock water bar work below treeline. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Sure, but no water up high. |
|
| Bugs: |
Nope. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
We spotted a pair of underwear on a tree several yards off GBT. They looked, uh, damp, so we didn't pick them up. :| |

A 12th visit to Moosilauke (I'm not gridding, I just love the mountain) and the first visit since my knee surgery in February. This is a very special place for me and I've missed it dearly.
Mainly dry trail all around this loop, with just a few small areas of mud. We got a late start and therefore didn't see too many people on the ascent or descent. The summit was busy, but not overcrowded and not loud. We lounged for a while under mostly cloudy skies and cool temps. Unusual for this peak, there was almost no wind.
C brought a ton of food which she handed out to the four thru-hikers we met today, who were all very appreciative. Best of luck folks, you're almost there!
We took our time today and made it a full day. It was wonderful to be back. :) Thanks to C for being there with me! |
