Comments
Comments: Dropped cars at the Shelburne Trailhead and then drove over to Rattle River Trail. this is a nice loop over Shelburne Moriah Mountain. We did the steep rock steps up to the ridge and enjoyed the walk over to Shelburne Moriah on the Kenduskeag Trail--yes a pleasant walk. We spend a good hour on the summit enjoying the big vista and cool breeze--we put on hats and jackets! Jill decorated the summit cairn with a congratulations banner for Danielle. Amada, Rick and your truly along with friends Jill, Dan and Larry posed for a group photo. Then Jill, Dan and Larry left us at the summit and headed to Moriah and we continued on the Kenduskeag Trail to its terminus with the Shelburne Trail--nice up and down stroll with more views. The Shelburne Trail is gentle and much better than returning down Rattle River! Lots and lots of mushrooms of all kinds! Thank you to the trail tender that recently brushed and cleaned water bars. Danielle--Congratulations to Danielle for completing the 52wav list on this day. Bonus we parked at the end of the forest road at Rte 2 and walked a couple hundred feet west to visit the Old Man of the Valley, the highway sign for this interesting rock is missing.
