| Comments: |
Hiked from the Basin to Eliza Brook Shelter, stayed 1 night, then back up South Kinsman, North Kinsman, and hiked down to the Basin. Challenging but fun hike/night hike. Would not recommend descending So. Kinsman in the rain + dark. We were fine in the dark. The trail descending from South Kinsman was poorly marked, we backtracked until finding a SOBO thru hiker. Eliza Brook shelter was packed, had to camp at a random spot near the shelter, barely room in the bear box for more food due to AT Thru hiker usage. Met about 10 NOBO thru hikers, 15 or so very inexperienced hikers without adequate gear, 7 or so appeared to be lost, and two SOBO AT Thru hikers. No injuries. One pair of lost glasses. |
