Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Ferncroft lot full at 10 Am on a Tuesday, I just got a space. Note that a bridge is out on 113A of Rt 16 S of Conway making for a long drive around to the south to get in there.
Surface Conditions

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The Wonalancet Range Trail is blazed blue but then so is the Walden Trail. The junction of the 2 trails north of Hibbard Mt is unsigned and is not a T junction as I expected. I missed this (L) turn (toward Passaconaway) which caused me to miss Nanamocomuck which was an outlier on this loop.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw only one dog, on the Old Mast Rd on my exit. Not much water on this loop except in lower elevations.
Bugs
Bugs: Nothing bothered me except breaking trail through spider webs.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: N/A

Comments
Comments: I was trying for a 4 bagger but did get 3. The lower WRT is a pretty stand of beech forest. Wonalancet (2760) is a steep climb for the last .3m or so. Nice view of Chocorua and Paugus from the ledges. The actual summit is wooded. Hibbard (2940) is on the 52wav list but the view is growing in. There is a nice open ledge with a view south to the lakes and beyond. Be careful here as the drop is a long way down and the edge arrives abruptly. Hedgehog (3140) is just a high spot on the Walden Trail. There are some views along here and then a very steep drop down on the reconstructed Walden Trail. My WODC donations at work! The Old Mast Rd is the perfect muscle relaxer. A 2 mile stretch of dirt path gently sloping downhill and back to the parking area. If you like descending Dicey's Mill Trail, you love the Old Mast Rd. A tidy little loop, about 6 miles and 2400 feet of elevation. Pretty quiet in there. I saw 4 people all day. Everyone was heading over to the 4Ks I guess.
