|
| | Date of Hike: | Friday, August 17, 2018 | | | | | Parking/Access Road Notes: | First car at 7:30. Lot full at 1:00 return although I only encountered a group of 2 with a dog. | | | | | Surface Conditions: | Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable | | | | | Recommended Equipment: | | | | | | Water Crossing Notes: | | | | | | Trail Maintenance Notes: | A couple step over blowdowns, and a couple walk unders that could be problematic with snowpack.
Pine Link needs brushing in places. | | | | | Dog-Related Notes: | Tucker did fine, but there are few scrambles that smaller or less agile dogs may have issues with.
Rocks above tree line a very sharp and rough, especially on the trails that get lighter use. | | | | | Bugs: | | | | | | Lost and Found: | | | |

| | | | Comments: | This is a great, albeit steep, way to ascend Madison. We did a little lollipop loop up Pine and Howker, down Watson back to Pine and down. A couple sections of Pine Link, one before, and one after the Howker stretch follow a running stream bed with moss covered rocks. Very slippery. I think they missed the forecast as it was sunny and hot the entire hike.
A nice way to skip the crowds on the Feces Way or Conga Line trails. Only saw two people on the trail, and 4 through hikers at the summit.
