Comments
Comments: I had hoped I would see others on the trail, but I had the trail and mountain to myself. The trail had a crust on top of about three inches, but was just powder once moving above the Gem Pool. It also got deeper and the trail disappeared in a foot of new snow above the last water crossing. Low clouds made it difficult to stay on the trail and the last 0.3 mile I was just trying to get to the hut. The only significant wind was going up Monroe and I needed my facemask and goggles. On the way down from the hut I did better staying on the trail, but I am sure my tracks will be gone again by tomorrow. I wish they would put bamboo poles into the cairns above the scrub for better visibility.
