Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Eastern crossing of Franconia Brook (southeast section of Lincoln Brook Trail) required wading. All other crossings (barely) rock-hoppable, including brook crossings at Redrock Brook and Hellgate Brook - I was wary of those as often they require wading. Shocked at high water levels for August. Drought monitor shows "abnormally dry" in the area - ????????
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: About what you'd expect for Wilderness. Of course, there are a couple places along Lincoln Brook Trail where things can be confusing - a couple times you just have to look at the tread-way and think what way looks like there is a smidgen more wear on the rocks and that's where the trail must be!!!! Primarily, the issues are on the rocky slide areas (north of Owl's Head Spur). Northern end of Owl's Head actually has seen some love in terms of maintenance - YAY!!! BUT, there were still many damp sections.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: why not, the place is oozing water everywhere
Bugs
Bugs: a few near the ponds, being so damp, but, i avoided bug stuff
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: nothing much

Comments
Comments: Hadn't done the loop around Owl's Head clockwise, so decided to see something new in that direction. Rode my bike to the Wilderness boundary and locked the bike near the sign. Then, hiked up Franconia Brook Trail to the lower Lincoln Brook Trail and took that going west. From there, went up around the top of Owl's Head (far away from 13 Falls Tentsite) and found a perfect campsite that has probably been there a hundred years I guess :) just in time before the downpours. Setup camp in a hurry in the drizzle and it rained all night. Morning came and the rain went away - YAY - poked around to find some interesting relics nearby. Hiked out the 5-ish miles south to my bike and rode out. Very fun time!
