What a great day for two crazy bushwhackos. Started on the East Pond trail to about the 2200 contour, then found good wood (for the most part) on a due south bearing to the drainage. Little thick in that area. Once on the drainage we hiked up to the split at about the 3000 contour. We took the right slide, only known as the "Steaming Pile" slide per a certain Waunderer. (This is not the dog leg slide - different ravine) That slide is straight slab with little to no handholds, slime, and you guessed it after days of rain, WET! A few anxious moments but we made it to the top. It is NOT for the faint of heart or those NOT experienced or comfortable in climbing situations. Once on the ridge, we again found great wood to West, a herd path (mostly) to Middle, and then good wood again to Osceola Trail. The usual for Osceola and East, little mud, it rained.... nothing of note.
There is no canister at Middle only a blaze, and West needs a few more pages and possibly another pencil or a pen if someone goes up. It's a smaller jar. |
