Sawyer River Road (FR 34) update: Heavy Equipment was being moved in today (Jul 16) to start work tomorrow (Jul 17). On my way down from Carrigain, I talked with one of the Forest Service workers on site trying to determine where they would temporarily reroute hikers during the washout repair, it was looking like a small reroute up the hill on the north side of the road around just the work area. Also the reroute was after their quarry, so I would expect hiker and equipment will be sharing at least part of the road. But they were still investigating, so they might have gone with a different reroute. So not an official estimate, but the guy I talked to was confident on a July 17 start, as they were busy with the reroute I did not ask about estimated road open date. |
