| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Signs indicate one section of ongoing Crawford Path reconstruction between the Connector and Mizpah Cutoff. There is a large and nasty uprooted entanglement maybe .25 mile up the Crawford Cliff spur that completely obscures the trail. Had it been 12:30 PM rather than 12:30 AM I likely would have tried to find a way through or around but I opted not to mess around with it in the dark. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Didn't see any. Lots of water for Fido on this section of Crawford Path. |
|
| Bugs: |
Mothra and friends loved the light of my headlamp and were very annoying on descent below Mizpah Cutoff. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
Nothing. |

| Comments: |
Headlamp hike up to Pierce. Between the Connector and Mizpah Cutoff the trail had some spots of wetness and running water. Above the Cutoff this was more the rule than the exception until approaching the alpine zone.
Wanting to get out but not wanting to deal with the oppressive heat I waited until the sun went down and it worked out well. Still very warm and humid on the lower half but on top it was very comfy and refreshing with just a little wind. Horizontal views were limited in the dark but vertical views to the sky were outstanding with countless stars and near zero clouds - an excellent opportunity to linger, contemplate...and enjoy the solitude. |
