Packed (though soft, and narrow at times) up to Pierce, and lightly packed over to Eisenhower by the time I descended--lot of fresh snow this week up there. One very small blowdown, though it looked more like a trip-line than a fallen tree. Final ascent up Eisenhower essentially needed to be broken out from scratch, though several groups came up afterwards and were working hard to pack it down firmly.
Used snowshoes the entire day, though track evidence showed one remarkably determined post-holer decided to use crampons between Pierce and Eisenhower. No issues with ice though pack traction and light traction just in case.
Beautiful day with blue skies and great visibility, though snow came in late afternoon. Calms winds, though they picked up by the time I reached Eisenhower--always bring face gear just in case. Just to vent for a second: felt a bit like a tourist trap between Pierce and Crawford Notch by the afternoon; a lot of trail congestion late in the day, and there was a remarkable amount of barebooters that were tearing up the trail that the rest of us spent the whole morning packing-out and widening. Bit disappointed to spend my whole descent trying to fix the trail-up again.
