|Date of Hike:
||Saturday, June 16, 2018|
|Parking/Access Road Notes:
||Plenty of parking at the main Pinkham Notch Visitor's Center parking area at 1:00 am. At 8:00, all lots, including the satellite lots south on Route 16, were just about full and the parking on the side of the road had begun. |
||Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|Water Crossing Notes:
||Not an issue. |
|Trail Maintenance Notes:
||Trail are in great shape -- completely free of blowdowns and in no need of brushing. |
||High winds kept bugs at bay above treeline; below treeline, just a few -- not too many -- black flies. |
|Lost and Found:
||We did a hike to catch sunrise atop Boott Spur -- lovely. Early alpine flowers are patchy now, versus what we saw a bit over a week ago.|
Very, very windy up top -- some of the higher gusts made staying on one's feet interesting on occasion on the ascent, with some of the bouldery/scrambly sections of Boott Spur Trail. Quite chilly, too.
Trails were pretty much bone dry with just a few wet spots in the regular, muddy sections on Boott Spur and Glen Boulder Trails below treeline.
