Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I had checked other reports about parking and found that a few trucks were almost blocking the trail-head sign. When I got there, there were two broken down trucks belonging to one of the home owners nearby. They had flat tires and were no doubt placed there to hinder others from parking on their property. I drove back down to the turn out nearest the power lines where I noticed signs for ATV crossings. No problem parking there. Only 3 other cars.

Comments
Comments: Overall a pleasant hike. I was a bit slower than my usual, but the weather and trail conditions were perfect. Only one large blowdown early on that I had to step over. All others were recently cut away. Trail winds up through the canopy so sun was partial and welcome with the cool breezes. Once you get to Surprise Mt. you get a great view of Mt. Washington and the valley below. On the open ledges it was easy to see the path with a few cairns. I passed only a handful of hikers and one dog. The trail was well taken care of as far as trash. I try to pick up others trash when I see some and I found none. Glad to see others must be doing the same or take good care not to drop anything. My day was great and the only thing I would mention, bring plenty of water. I had 2 liters and probably could have used a bit more. There was no water to be had even if you had filtration. Happy hiking.
