A fish hatchery worker told me that the sign is simply there in case they have to start locking the gate, but as far as he knows, they've been leaving the gate unlocked 24/7, because it's just easier all around. |

Maintenance crews have done great work -- trail is in fine shape |

Minor. Not sure if it was the wind, but there were lots of butterflies and dragonflies, but no black flies that I noticed. |

Trails were in fine shape. Weather was amazing, and although the views from the top were abbreviated by trees and haze, they were still spectacular.
There was one instance where I nearly got struck by a falling tree limb. Details will be on my blog. But in the meantime, be careful out there. A tree falling in the forest without someone to hear may or may not make noise, but it still falls.
