Black flies were vexing at times below the ridge, but there was enough of a breeze on the ski trails to generally keep them at bay. Chilly enough on the summit that they weren't much of an issue there. |

Trails were mostly dry. Ski trail grass/weeds starting to get tall in places, but gravel access road avoids that issue. Still two patches of snow in the base area, one of which is still over a dozen feet tall and should make it to calendar summer.
Lots of hikers on the trails today, but one of the nice things about Waterville Valley is that it doesn't have that constant hum of motorcycles during bike week. |
