Comments
Comments: Did the loop counterclockwise. Trail from Beaver Brook well signed but lumpy. GaleRiver Trail a near perfect snowshoe track with varying amounts of fresh powder. Sunlight glowed through the trees with all branches covered with a fresh white coating...spectacular day.. Climb to the ridge a smooth ramp with no ice. Garfield Ridge Trail packed out nicely. Also broken out towards Garfield. Some awesome snowdrifts at the hut..no sign of mister squirrel..Deeper snow on the side of Galehead..8-12 inches. Climb up South Twin in great shape with one minor ice bulge by the boulders...snowshoes with televators were perfect. We lingered in nearly calm winds at the summit and enjoyed the far reaching views. Much more snow headed towards North Twin ..steady foot with deeper drifts..Some recent brushing noted and appreciated. Ledges all snowed in. Viewpoints on North Twin amongst the best and we hung out at both of them..wow!! A blast on descent in a foot or so of fresh powder...started to get lumpy and postholy just above the crossing which was a bit tedious. Managed the crossing easily..the "bushwack" in great shape..skier traffic evident on Fire Wardens...Just a magnificent day out in the Whites..did not see a soul all day
