Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water crossings on the Lincoln Woods Trail between Franconia Brook and Owls Head - 2 bridges by logs, others rock hoppable, one required wading.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Signs missing at the junction of the Lincoln Woods/Bondcliff/Franconia Brook Trail just after bridge crossing the Franconia Brook at the Pemi. Probably 3-4 major blowdowns on the Bondcliff Trail on the 1.7 miles of flat. Mud and no major blowdowns on the Lincoln Brook Trail between Franconia Brook and Owls Head Path. Many major blowdowns on Lincoln Brook Trail between Owls Head Path and 13 Falls, look like a birch cemetery but plenty (10+)blowdowns.

Comments
Comments: Day 1 of a redlining backpack to 13 Falls. Quick walk up to the 2nd bridge crossing, then a wrong turn onto the Bondcliff trail for almost 2 miles and back again to the Franconia Brook Trail since I had only ever done the Black Pond Bushwhack so I figured to get the piece of Lincoln Brook Trail to Owl's Head. Many water crossings, most okay, can see why there have been occasions where hikers have gotten stranded. Mostly a flat walk to the Owls Head Path, where a few piles of rocks (cairns) have been constructed to make the path. Had company for most of the hike from a young man from Connecticut who was finishing his 48 on Owls Head. His original plan was to summit Owls Head and then follow Lincoln Brook Trail to 13 Falls and go over South Twin and the Bonds and back out to Lincoln Woods, after the wrong turn he I think changes his mind because we didn't see him at 13 Falls. Next new piece of Lincoln Brook Trail is a climb to 3200 feet. Ran into 2 young guys who had just come down from Franconia Ridge down the Lincoln Slide to get to Owls Head. Lots of blow downs, mud and then a steep drop with a submerged water crossing to get to 13 Falls. Probably would have enjoyed it more when we thought it was only 11 miles. Turned out to be a 15.5 mile day, we decided not to summit Owls Head since we had already done that one. My plan of going up the Twin Brook Trail was stymied because of the extra mileage today.
