Water Crossing Notes: Streams are minor
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nice job clearing the blowdowns on Valley Way. Heard there is a big blowdown on Airline.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Hike is a bit rough on the paws once you get above treeline. Some sharp boulders, quite a bit of rock hopping. Crazy Foot was one tired pup. Saw one other dog on the summit and they went on to do Madison. Water available all along Valley Way but this may change during summer months. Water available at Madison Spring Hut.
Bugs
Bugs: No biters in the trees but there were a lot at the summit when the breeze died down.

Comments
Comments: Well we had to abandon our last attempt in late April but it was smooth sailing today (we were able to do Madison in February - go figure!). Luckily the weather forecast of 40 degrees and 20 mph winds was wrong. Light breeze and t-shirts on the summit. Beautiful day. We were going to park at Lowe's but I saw a spot at Appalachia and am familiar with Valley Way. It was cool to see the difference from last time we were on Valley Way in winter conditions. Upper Bruin is a nice little trail. You can cut over to Airline and come out right below the "knife edge". #47
