Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No dogs today. I missed my two dogs at home today in a terrible way, i hate leaving them and a day in the woods just is not the same without them!! Way to cold at summit for a dog and i don't think a dog could have made it up or down with the trail conditions as they are at the moment on Air Line. Def asking for trouble with deep post holes and ice. My dogs are rough tumble natural hikers that get in a good 50 miles a week year round but i would not risk them on Air LIne as bad as it is at the moment!

Comments
Comments: Trails all had some amount of fresh powder on them. Less lower on the mountain and more higher up the hill. On the way up Air line, Split Line, King Ravine fresh ski trails lay frozen under 1'-4' of fresh powder making for a great even solid surface to walk and not ruin the ski tracks.

Being i took a weird line up the ravine i will leave that out. But lets just say that was the best part!!

The summit was windy and cold but not to cold! I am talking windy though, easily a steady 50-60mph wind with higher gusts and blowing snow everywhere. Sight was cairn to cairn after cresting the head wall. Air line high on the exposed ridge portion of the trail was a sheet of ice with very little snow. All and all what i would call great conditions for winter fun. To think i almost did not make the drive due to lack of snow and frozen trails. We def need more snow in a bad way but if you wanna get out and play dont let lack of snow stop you.
