Glencliff in mostly good shape. Carriage Road had at least 3 major blowdowns - can see people have skied bypasses; 1 large blowdown since snow left; Hurricane Trail was well blazed but had FREQUENT blowdowns - 1 of which was absolutely massive!!!! Lots of deadfall - I picked up what I could but I was under a time constraint. |

| Comments: |
Up Glencliff -> to summit -> down via Carriage Road -> Hurricane back to Glencliff. Significant steep but solid monorail above about 4200' for the ascent. For the descent on the Carriage Road, snow was deep and postholed but pretty solid from 4600' to around 4300'. Carried snowshoes and light traction but never felt the need. If the snow were softer along the ridge, I would have wanted them there. Lots of snow from the Glencliff/Carriage Road junction to treeline. A very fine day on this peak. Hurricane Trail has seen a lot of trail work recently but was still very rough. I was glad there were frequent blazes on the Hurricane Trail. Only saw about 4 people all day! Fine views in all directions. |
