Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings were fine. The bigger crossing is easier a little north of the trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of standing water. More rocks in mud pits would help keep people on the trail instead of working around them.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A single XL Microspike on Summit of Jackson where Webster Cliff come up onto the ledge. I left it draped on a spruce well away from the edge of the ledge (right coming up from Webster at the end of the first ledge, at the bend).

Comments
Comments: Mixed spring conditions on Jackson but all very doable with microspikes. The monorail was mostly stable-- not much postholing going on by anyone and I only broke through once and not that deeply. Thank the well-travelled trail for a broader monorail. Some people without microspikes turned around, others made it up (they are braver than I would have been). Lots of snow above about 3000, mixed down low. Ice down low is quite hard and slippery-- I caught an edge of a spike while descending rather fast and hit the ground fast and hard. Intel from the Webster Cliff trail is not good. Didn't look like any recent traffic. A couple tried it and turned around because they were postholing up to their crotch. Another guy made it the opposite direction but had a similar experience except that he lost the trail in several spots, including at the end. Great day in the mountains, even if just for a brief hike. Happy trails!
