Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Highland Center had plenty of clean n' clear parking spaces today. I snagged the spot just by the steps leading to Crawford Path, which was pretty sweet on the return.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow - Wet/Sticky, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow, Slush
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Silver Cascade Brook had a lovely tree laying across it -- plenty wide enough to offer ample footing with no question of balance. Other than that, the water crossings were trivial.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some significant blow-downs on the trail heading to Pierce as you leave Mitzpah Spring hut.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some paw prints, but no pooches!
Bugs
Bugs: A few cobwebs here and there. Some flying insects, few enough in number to count on both hands with fingers left over.

Comments
Comments: Coming out of the Silver Cascade water crossing, front points on my K-10s made for more efficient travel.

I made many "stealth" water crossings that I only discovered because there was a small hole that let out the sounds of cascading water below my feet. Besides that, the snow is slippy-slide-y mashed potatoes for the most part. Don't expect sure footing on any grade beyond "mostly flat". The trail crossing the three peaks was "narrow gauge" monorail, and while my crampons were doing an OK job, eventually, I went with the snowshoes just to make better footing. However, on the steep downhills, my snowshoes unexpectedly became skis more than once. The bridges over the boggy bits at the col were mainly clear to the wood, and there are many parts where the trail is bare to the ground.

Mitzpah hut was actually open, self-serve.

If you're persistent, and aren't expecting a pristine trail, it's actually a very doable trip.

Blog post will be up within the next 24 hours.
