Wore light traction to Gem Pool then put on my snowshoes and kept them on until back down to the car. Could have worn light traction or traction up to treeline. Above treeline there was an abundance of snow, you could make your own trail up to the summit in snowshoes. Unfortunately, with all the rain coming through conditions will drastically change over the next 48 hours above treeline. Bring your beater spikes for above treeline as most of this snow will melt away up there quickly leaving a mix of snow, ice, and rocks.
Phenomenal hike up to Washington to meet up with Whitney as she was doing a Presi Traverse with Denise, Jeff, Karine, and Sue. |
