Decided to take the Fire Warden's trail up to Hale. If it wasn't for the hiker out in front of me with the two dogs (that I crossed path with later on his hike down), I would never have been able to follow the route to this trail and through it's various switchbacks. At times, this trail is like a two lane road through the woods, at other times, had it not been for his footprints in the fresh snow, I would have had no clue which way to turn. I ended close, REALLY close to the summit, but able to get to the clearing. Still a great hike, in stunning post-snow conditions. Link to pictures and story below. |
