Comments
Comments: Gale River Road (west) was barebootable to the first bridge, but snowshoes were good thereafter. Garfield Trail was broken out, but warm temperatures and fog made the snow very soft - snowshoes a must. Sank down on ascent, continued to pack on the descent. Should set up nicely. Steeps on Garfield Ridge Trail were snowcovered with very little ice showing. Summit area was mostly bare and dry. Patches of slush and bare trail opening up later in the day between the water crossings and switchbacks.
