Well conditions were pretty awful. I think I was one of the first up the trail really this morning and the snow was nasty wet. Even with snowshoes I was sinking in 3"+ making for slow and tiresome going. On the ridge the snow was more prone to postholing as some people found out without snowshoes early. Many of the postholes I saw looked to be at least knee depth. Lots and lots of slush on the ridge as well and made waterproof boots imperative. Trail seemed to start to pack down as I was headed out as more and more groups barebooting passed me. |
