Be aware you have to park about three miles from the trail head as Zealand Road is still closed. This turns the 4.4 mile hike into about a 10 miles hike so be prepared. It snowed about 4-6 inches of powder on the 6th so the monorail was a bit slippery. I would highly recommend snowshoes or microspikes although the trail is a bit more broken out now. About 1/2 way up the mountain there is a portion where the trail pitches from right to left at a steep grade. As long as you take it slow you should be okay. Overall not a bad day. Felt more like a Winter hike than Spring. Thanks to Matt and Ginger for breaking out the trail and letting me tag along with them! |
