Comments
Comments: The Jewell trail is broken in for its entire distance. The section of trail prior to the Jewell Spur junction is less firm and has more bare boot indents. Some branches extend in to the Jewell Trail but will not be a problem once the snow melts. Above tree line there is various ground conditions. Much of the surface is wind packed solid snow cover. There are some exposed rocks topped by a thin layer of snow in spots. There are some small drifts with some loose snow. Snowshoes with traction is the best bet at this time. Saw five other hikers today. Remember to bring sunglasses with the high sun angle and the high albedo from the snow surface. The following trails were not currently broken out; Boundary Line, Cornice, Sphinx, Caps Ridge, and Gulfside north of the Jefferson Loop Trail junction.
