Comments
Comments: Solo hike of Wildcat Mountain “D” peak.
Purchase $10 Uphill Access Hiker Pass At ticket counter.
Take Polecat Ski Trail from near quad chair lift to near the summit.
Polecat trail is the extreme northern ski trail.
At chairlift summit station, the Wildcat Ridge Trail is to the left of the first sid station and ascends steeply to the actual summit where there is a wood observation platform giving views of Mt Washington, Mt Adams, and Mt Monroe.
Our intention was from there to do an out and back to Wildcat Mountain A Peak.
We went a short distance and decided to call it a day due to the lateness in the day and steepness of the trail. There was 2” fresh snow from last night and the trail north from the D peak had no traffic since the 2” snowfall.
For the D peak, snowshoes are the way to go.
