The short of it: Pine Bend is in great shape to the summit of North Tri. It is firm and fast. Since I was bushwacking after where Pine Bend finally plateaus, just be careful of the few false starts i created before finding myself back on Pine Bend and to the summit.
After helping to break and even with a map and GPS, eventually losing the trail Saturday, but not being able to leave this challenge alone, came back for more on Sunday. Where I hopes and found that someone had at least had corrected the course of the trail.
I ran into John W, who had found and broke the trail to beyond Scaur Ridge trail. Which had to be exhausting, as there are places on Pine Bend where the snow had to be 3ft deep with significant elevation gain. I also spoke to a couple of other guys who made it to where he left off and some, but after they lost the trail, and were understandably not interested in bushwacking the rest of the way to North Tri, also turned back.
