Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were packed, more so with 19 mile, less so with C-M, and texture varied with sun and temp, but it often felt like hiking in sand going up, which drained some energy going up but was fun going down. Some water and slush spots on lower Carter Dome caused snowshoes to ice up later. 2 barebooters on C-M did some postholing and more on C-D chewed it up, but having many more snowshoers tended to fix it up. It slowed me up just a tad. I took out 20+ bendovers most on the way back, and while these were usually the most nuisance (none were awful), there are more in places suggesting future snows could close in the trail in those spots if they aren't addressed or the warm weather lets them shed their snowcaps.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The mighty tough little dog had the usual icing of paws and legs, but with mostly packed trails he didn't have to work overly hard, but I was still impressed. We met a wonderful young dog, Thor, but being winter no play was allowed.

Comments
Comments: We met quite a few happy hikers on the trail so they should be nicely packed out not only on our route but up to Carter Dome and out the Imp. I forgot to check the Dodge camp shortcut. Sorry. Most hikers are fun to meet but the winter hikers are the best. Pepper met the also mighty tough Trish and Alex twice on the trails and I told him he's pretty impressive but Trish and Alex take the cake.
