wanted to check conditions on Old bridle so i made the decision to hike Lafayette again this early morning. Conditions were surprisingly good. i would still recommend snowshoes since its still cold and the snow isn't consolidating too well but it is getting packed on this route. The skiers who went down old bridle yesterday did a really good job of staying off the trail and not washing into it..that is much appreciated. no screwing around this am, up and down with minimal stops. very very cold on the ridge and though the wind wasn't steady like yesterday up there, there were still some decent gusts. crystal clear star viewing at the summit and back at my truck still before actual sunrise. GAIA had it at 3:07.
i know of 2 people that camped out last night, so their car was in the lot still and i hope they stayed warm. -2 in the notch when back at my truck.. |
