Deep (2'+) unconsolidated snow made for slow progress. Our large group hit the trail early, joined hours later by other hikers who came up the trail from behind. Despite our now very large group, all taking turns... we hit Garfield Ridge later than planned, a bit tired and nearing our turnaround time. We elected to descend; hikers from the other groups continued, but with their numbers now smaller, and the snow so deep.. I do not know if they made the summit or not or just got as far as the hut.
Any way... the trail is now broken (or mostly broken) and in beautiful shape... Go grab it!!
