Comments
Comments: Avalon trail all packed out. Atoz from Avalon Junction to Willey Range well packed, except the moose have been postholing on the Atoz. Mt Tom Spur is well packed. Willey Range from Atoz to Mt Field in good shape, except for some moose postholing. Willey Range to Mt Willey had not seen any traffic. Deep snow on this trail. Snowshoes sank into knee deep. I stopped a little ways down from Mt Field to have some lunch and hope someone else came along to help breakout the trail. Lucky a couple came down the trail and we shared the trailbreaking to Mt Willey. We were on the final climb up Willey when we met 4 guys hiking to Mt Field. They had come up the latters doing a traverse. You never saw 4 happier guys knowing the trail was packed out.

We wandered off trail once on the way to Willey and we used my GPS to get back on track. I corrected the track on the way back and blocked the misguided path with some branches.

No promised sun today. Stuck in the clouds all day.
