Comments
Comments: Used micro-spikes all the way to Lakes of the Clouds. The path was soft, but we weren't sinking enough to make snowshoes worth it. Other groups who made it to Lake of the Clouds were primarily wearing crampons, but a handful had microspikes. From the hut, the going up Crawford was very slow and the visibility was very low. Several of the groups we saw turned. We eventually switched to snowshoes as we got within .2 or .3 of the summit, as we were sinking into the drifts pretty significantly. We hit our turnaround time within striking distance (but not time) of the summit. Snowshoes most of the way down. There was a larger group of folks behind us that looked like they were going to make it.
