Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Rocky Branch crossings were easy and 2 can be avoided by following the bushwhack to the right as it approaches the stream.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few bare spots made the bushwhack confusing in spots. Minor snow cover also made the footbed less obvious. Tight going between trees in places and if it just snowed be prepared to get covered by snow as you brush the numerous evergreens.

Comments
Comments: It was a partly cloudy day with temps in the 30's and a 2" coating of new snow on the trail. Started out in spikes with one hiker ahead of me but I switched to light snowshoes after about a mile and kept them on for the duration. Was able to find the bushwhack which turns HARD right off of the trail just before the main trail heads downhill. I was on the bushwhack for over a mile then turned back when it petered out at an open area. Headed back down the main trail but it was obvious this was not the way I wanted to go. Met Estelle and we headed back to the bushwhack, eventually figuring it out from among numerous 'false' paths from prior attempts. Made great time once we hit the main trails and the as they are all well broken out. Left the summit at 3:20 and made it back t the cars well before 6 PM. In our haste Estelle lost her phone as noted above. PLEASE contact the number above and I can come and pick it up at or near the trailhead.
