Comments
Comments: There were a few inches of snow above a firmly packed trail. Although there were a few places where snowshoes might have provided some advantage going up Stony Brook, I did fine without them and managed not to leave post holes with only minimal care. The snow was such that it clogged my microspikes and there was a lot of slippery going. I switched to snowshoes between the intersection and the summit and was glad of them on the way down. Note for getting from the Carter Moriah trailhead to Stony: There appears to be an ATV path moving left/south, but it petered out after several yards. Just go on the road, turn left on the footbridge and walk the shoulder.
