Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Lots of small step over/hop over crossings along the Lincoln Woods trail. Some muddy, wet areas along the lower portion of the Bondcliff trail with standing water, easily negotiated over or around. Of the four major crossings on the Bondcliff trail, the first two were open with flowing water, easily crossed by rock stepping. The second two were bridged and still solid walk overs, but were definitely showing signs of deterioration with the warmer temps.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few easy walk unders and step overs along LW trail and lower portion of Bondcliff trail. Lots of blowdowns on the West Bond spur - tracked trail meanders around them a bit, but gets you to the summit without much trouble. Pretty amazing to see all the damage from that October storm.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any
Bugs
Bugs: Lots of snow fleas!
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: none

Comments
Comments: We grabbed the last good weather day this week and finally made this hike that had been scheduled and rescheduled so many times already - was so happy to get it in! We got an early start and trails were hard-packed and firm on the LW trail and beginning of Bondcliff trail on the way in with minimal postholes...but on the way out, we noticed that someone had been there during the day and the trail was now significantly postholed in sections. Took some care to avoid them. We barebooted to the beginning of the Bondcliff trail, spikes went on here and stayed on for the rest of the day. The trail remained hard-packed all the way up to Bondcliff summit, with a solid stable monorail...there were sections of frozen postholes from previous hikers, but with care they were easily stepped around. Minimal snow / ice at Bondcliff summit and along the ridge up to Mt. Bond with lots of exposed rock. As you got closer to Bond summit, snow deepened again and this section had some huge, frozen postholes that took extra care to negotiate around or you might get swallowed up! Same applied to the trail between Bond and West Bond. On the return trip, sun came out and snow began to soften up. Monorail was stable, but you needed extra caution to stay on it as a slight misstep to either side could cause some sinking in the soft snow. Of course all of this will probably change with the storm on Friday - so not sure any of this will be of any help.
