Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Construction at Base Station made it tricky to get to the trailhead. We started a bit downstream of the former trailhead. No issues rock hopping across the river as of 3/1. If you start near the water tower thingy, a bit downstream of the trailhead, cross, head upstream, you'll see the trail on your left.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in excellent shape. This will change as of today's storm, but Jewell was packed and perfect for micros. Few icy spots and choppy /post-holey up near treeline, but totally navigable. Snowshoes went along for the ride. We ditched them at treeline and picked them up on the way down.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sammy had a great day. Ice on the rocks was breakable and there was plenty of good footing.

Comments
Comments: Unusual day above treeline. No wind all day long! We were clouded in with a few breaks and then it burned off spectacularly as we neared the summit! Most of the folks we ran into came up from Lion's Head. One group had come up Ammonusuc. They said it was "fine, and you could get around the ice" but they did not recommend that trail for dogs. Glad we took Jewell; great doggy adventure!
