Sharing my lost and found story here in hope of finding Sandy!
I hiked the Hancock’s yesterday. After my descent of North Hancock, I realized my cell phone phone was no longer with me. Sigh. I knew it was somewhere up in the steeps because I last took a picture just before starting the descent of North. All the way up there 😩 I didn’t have the time or energy to go back up to search for it. As I plodded along the 3+ miles of flats to the parking lot, I was lost in my own thoughts of how to contact my husband and Mom by our agreed upon time to let them know I was ok. I figured I’d drive to Lincoln and borrow someone’s phone. Once home, I’d have to go through the hassle of going to Verizon to replace my phone. I was feeling pissy about the whole thing and mentally beating myself up for being so careless, once again, with my phone. When, out of nowhere I hear, “I can stop running now! I finally caught up to you. Do you want your phone?â€I turned in disbelief to see this sweaty, rock star of a woman standing before me, reach into her chest pocket and hand me my phone! My immediate reaction was to hug this woman like she was a dear friend. Her good deed absolutely made my day(s).Shout out to Sandy, the teacher from Atkinson, NH!
If anyone knows who she is, could you please let me know?
Moral(s) of the story:
-Be good to others. It really does make a difference.
-stop using my back right butt pocket for my phone! |

The trails were covered in about 2 inches of loose snow. I kept hillsound micro spikes on the whole time, but carried snow shoes. There were a couple times I almost switched to them, but decided against it. I saw about 10 other hikers out, all of them had spikes on except for 2, who had snowshoes on, but they switched to spikes later in the hike. The temps warmed up toward the end of my hike and he tr ail was starting to get softer. |
