Comments
Comments: No issues getting up to Hale--it's basically a ramp. Some steep sections and one stretch that felt like walking along a ledge which required somewhat careful footing to avoid sliding down a snow slope, but nothing too tricky. I was glad to be wearing microspikes for this stretch as it seemed like the width of the trail might have made it a bit tricky in snowshoes; but many people were wearing snowshoes and obviously had no problem. We wore microspikes all the way to the summit of Hale. We switched to snowshoes on Lend a Hand all the way to Zealand Hut--while the trail was broken out, it was still a little unconsolidated and we were doing some minor postholing so we thought it was prudent to put on snowshoes and better for the trail as well in terms of solidifying the snow base. Very grateful for those who choose to use the trails for hiking and not butt sliding.
