Amazing driving up through Bartlett..barely a dusting of snow at Sawyer River Road. The banks grew heading up to the Notch.Put on snowshoes in the parking lot..8-10 inches of snow at the road to 30 inches or so up high..mid thigh. Trail somewhat unconsolidated in places due to barebooters who trashed most of the smaller crossings.. Met up with the Grinch just before the cone standing mid shin deep in snow.." Boy I said..its alot easier in snowshoes..the reply..which was accompanied by a smirk and a laugh..I just wait for other people to pack out the trail "..this is so much easier"..This is what we are up against.. I bit my tongue...not something I do well..and moved on. Ramp to the cone somewhat in place and easy in snowshoes..some ice just below the summit. 20 degrees with 30 mph winds and some blowing fog and snow did not have me linger long... Had a great chat with Donna and Ella ..nice job guys..have to get Ella on the trail with T sometime... |
